Roma Bracelet

The Roma Bracelet is a remarkable tribute to the heritage of ancient Rome, showcasing two silver denarii that reflect the Eternal City’s most iconic symbols.

The first coin, minted in 147 BCE by L. Cupiennius, depicts the helmeted goddess Roma, her profile framed by a cornucopia with the numeral X below her chin. On the reverse, the Dioscuri gallop to the right, with L CVP (VP ligate) in the exergue or within a linear frame, accompanied by the inscription ROMA.

The second coin, issued by P. Satrienus in 77 BCE, features the legendary she-wolf, her paw raised as she gazes to the left. Its reverse reveals the helmeted head of the youthful Mars turned to the right, with XXXII to the left.

Both coins, retaining their fine old cabinet tone, are preserved in Very Fine (VF) condition, safeguarding their historical and artistic significance.

Set in 18k yellow gold, the coins are thoughtfully positioned to look at each other, symbolising the strength and protection that both Roma and the she-wolf brought to Rome’s soldiers and people. The flexible bracelet, weighing 13.70 grams, is designed for comfort and adorned with an ancient cord motif beside the bezels, adding a timeless touch to this piece.

The Roma Bracelet unites two powerful women, the goddess Roma and the she-wolf, whose influence shaped the city’s history. The bracelet has, in a sense, returned to its origins, closing the circle. It now resides in a Renaissance palazzo constructed on the remains of a Roman theatre, under the care of a custodian whose family has played a significant role in the city’s history for more than two millennia.
