Himera Bracelet

The inclusion of an ancient bronze coin from the city of Himera in Sicily, minted around 420–409 BC, adds historical and cultural significance to this flexible bracelet. In 409 BC, the city was destroyed by the Carthaginian army and never rebuilt. The coin’s extremely fine (XF) condition, with its attractive dark patina despite being almost 2,500 years old, attests to its exceptional preservation and rarity.

The nymph Himera is depicted in remarkable detail, wearing a sphendone (headband), a pendant earring, and a double necklace. In Greek mythology, nymphs were minor divinities associated with nature and creativity, often represented as youthful figures of grace and vitality. The laurel wreath on the reverse, symbolising victory, adds another layer of meaning to the bracelet.

The use of 18-karat rose gold combined with black rhodium, and the inclusion of forty grey sapphires in a pavé setting, enhance the refined aesthetic of the bracelet. Its flexible and comfortable design further contributes to its wearability.

The Himera Bracelet, with its exceptionally rare bronze coin, elegant design, and fine depiction of the nymph Himera, connects history, mythology, and craftsmanship. Now in the care of an historian and writer, it preserves the protective spirit of Himera, a reminder that beauty and strength can survive even all destruction.
