Ziz Cuff Bracelet

Coins were minted across various locations within the Carthaginian Empire. This exceptionally rare bronze coin was struck in Palermo, founded by the Phoenicians in the 8th century BCE, and dates back to 336–330 BCE. This flourishing merchant colony, known as Ziz, meaning flower in Punic, produced this remarkable 23 mm bronze coin. The Punic inscription 𐤑𐤉𐤑 (Ziz) appears in the lower right part of the coin, behind Tanit’s beautifully detailed profile. Wreathed, the powerful goddess’ image is enhanced by a deep green patina. On the reverse, a galloping horse and a star serve as symbols of Carthage’s strength and prosperity.

Graded as Extremely Fine (EF), the coin retains exceptional detail despite its irregular flan and visible cuts. To preserve the integrity of Tanit’s exquisite portrait, we extended the gold bezel, seamlessly setting black diamonds to cover the gaps while ensuring the coin’s numismatic and historical significance remain untouched.

Opposite the coin, a flower motif—referring to the Punic name of the thriving city – is paved with black diamonds and black rhodium, offering a striking contrast and contemporary edge. Set in 18k rose gold, the flexible cuff bracelet blends ancient artistry with modern design and craftsmanship, ensuring both comfort and security.

"I am honoured to wear this extraordinary bracelet, featuring an extremely rare coin with Tanit's beautiful portrait. Beyond its rarity, it carries the essence of Palermo, a city I deeply cherish, with its the ancient Phoenician roots, so clearly marked by the inscription Ziz. Wearing this bracelet feels truly special to me."
