Apollo Ring

The Apollo Ring is a bespoke creation for a man, showcasing a very fine (VF) silver drachm from Miletos, minted circa 340–325 BCE under the magistrate Lykos. Miletos, one of the wealthiest cities of ancient Ionia, held a deep connection to Apollo, who was venerated at the renowned Sanctuary of Apollo at Didyma. This sanctuary, rivalling Delphi, was a center for oracles and prophecy, housing the sacred laurel tree, an enduring symbol of Apollo’s mythology.

The obverse of the coin features Apollo’s serene, laureate profile, symbolising his connection to the sacred laurel tree. This imagery is rooted in the myth of Daphne, the nymph who, to escape Apollo’s pursuit, was transformed into a laurel tree. Heartbroken yet devoted, Apollo made the laurel sacred, wearing its leaves as a crown to symbolise victory, love, and devotion. The reverse of the coin depicts a lion standing left, symbolising strength and protection, accompanied by an eight-rayed star and the monogram of Miletos.

Set in 18k yellow gold, the ring’s design is inspired by laurel leaves, framing the ancient coin with subtle elegance. This detail honours Apollo’s enduring legacy as the god of prophecy, music, and healing, blending history with modern craftsmanship.

The Apollo Ring carries an added layer of significance, created as a couple’s ring to complement the Histiaia Ring worn by the owner’s spouse. Together, these two bespoke pieces form a poetic and aesthetic connection, celebrating shared stories, everlasting love, and timeless elegance—a meaningful tribute to history, mythology, and the bonds that unite us.
