The collection is inspired by Theodora, one of the most influential Empresses of the Roman Empire. We think of her as a very sassy woman. You can see her depicted on the picture of the mosaic below. When an angry mob attacked the royal palace of Byzantium in 532, the Emperor Justinian considered fleeing. But his wife Theodora dissuaded him, telling him to ‘nika!’. Nika means ‘win’, ‘victory’ or ‘conquer’. The Emperor won indeed and took back control over the city. A necklace dating from this period is the inspiration for the collection. Sassi combines intricate golden medallions with smooth, iridescent mother of pearl. The rose gold marries perfectly well with the soft shimmering hues of the mother of pearl. The design is entirely reversible, simple and stylish, to be worn as your personal victory medallion, every day.
